Software Configured for Your Trade from the Beginning

A field service crew leader in a hard hat and hi-vis vest standing at the open side door of a white work van, reading the day's work on a rugged tablet, shelved tool cases racked behind him and two crew members loading equipment from a second van, low sun over a commercial building in the background.

CrewOS is an operations platform designed specifically for field service businesses. When a company selects its trade during setup, the platform preloads the relevant:

  • Site and project fields
  • Service tiers
  • Contract types
  • Compliance requirements
  • Checklists
  • Expense categories
  • Industry terminology

Instead of starting with an empty platform, a business begins with a system already aligned with how its industry operates.

The CrewOS Business Verticals setting: a picker of industry templates grouped by family, with Commercial Cleaning / Janitorial selected as the primary vertical.
The Business Verticals setting. Picking a trade loads its site fields, picklists, form templates and compliance documents, and the primary vertical drives the terminology the app uses everywhere else.

CrewOS currently ships 103 specialized trade templates across 14 industry families:

Industry family Trade templates
Trades (mechanical and structural) 15
Cleaning and facility services 12
Building trades 12
Landscaping and grounds 10
Specialty services 10
Construction and heavy services 7
Pest control and environmental 6
Waste and disposal 5
Technology and equipment services 5
Property and building services 5
Fleet and vehicle services 4
Home and personal services 4

From HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors to crane operators, snow-removal companies, commercial cleaners and mobile mechanics, businesses receive a foundation tailored to their operational reality. A company that works across more than one trade can enable several verticals at once and nominate one as primary.

One Operational Backbone, Adapted to Your Business

Although every industry works differently, field service companies face many of the same underlying challenges.

Schedules change. Certifications expire. Quotes require follow-up. Crews need current information. Managers need visibility. Customers expect timely communication.

CrewOS brings those moving parts together in one platform, connecting:

  • Scheduling and dispatch
  • Projects and field operations
  • Workforce and compliance management
  • Customer information and communications
  • Leads, quotes and follow-ups
  • Invoices, expenses and financials
  • Suppliers, purchase orders and procurement
  • AI-assisted scheduling and operational actions

The result is a connected operating system rather than a collection of disconnected tools.

Your team no longer has to piece together information from spreadsheets, group chats, paper forms and separate applications just to understand what is happening in the business.

The Language Matters

Industry terminology may seem like a small detail—until your team is forced to translate its work into language that does not fit.

A general contractor works on a project. A cleaning company services a property. A security company manages a post.

A crew member may be called a technician, a cleaner, an operator, a caregiver or a guard. A scheduled activity may be a service call, a site day, a lift, a visit or a patrol.

CrewOS adapts these labels, documents and service types to match the language each trade already uses. Here is what the platform actually renames, taken from the shipped templates:

Template Site becomes Crew member becomes Shift becomes
General Contracting Project Project Manager Site Day
Security Services Post Guard Patrol
Crane Service Job Site Operator Lift
Home Care / Personal Support Client Home Caregiver Visit
HVAC Site Technician Service Call

Security also renames Client to Account and Contract to Agreement. Home Care renames Client to Family, Contract to Care Plan and Compliance Document to Credential. The clock-in and clock-out buttons change with them, so a guard starts a patrol and an HVAC technician starts a job.

This makes the system easier to understand, faster to adopt and more intuitive for both office and field teams.

Technology should fit the business—not force the business to reorganize itself around the technology.

Built for the Complexity of Field Operations

Consider the needs of a general contractor.

Spreadsheets may work when the business is small, but they quickly become unreliable as the number of projects, workers and subcontractors grows.

CrewOS provides a dedicated project and field operations layer that allows contractors to manage:

  • Project cost codes, budgets and progress
  • Subcontractors and compliance requirements
  • Permits and expiration alerts
  • Daily logs and toolbox talks
  • Field incident reports
  • Crew scheduling and hours
The CrewOS Cost Codes screen: an account-wide cost code catalogue with labour, material, equipment, subcontract and overhead categories.
An account-wide cost code catalogue, assignable to project budget lines and time entries. General Contracting can seed CSI MasterFormat codes; a cleaning or landscaping company gets categories that match its own spend.

The same principle extends across every supported industry: provide a common operational backbone, then configure the details around the trade.

That balance gives growing businesses the structure they need without sacrificing the flexibility that makes their operations unique.

Compliance and Checklists Arrive Already Shaped

Two of the places a generic platform costs the most time are the certification register and the field form, because both are trade-specific and both are usually built from scratch.

Every shipped template carries its own compliance document types, and they are defined per country, so a Canadian operator and a US operator in the same trade do not get the same list. A Canadian security company starts with a Security Guard License, First Aid / CPR, a Criminal Record Check, Use of Force training, Fire Safety training and Liability Insurance. The US list for the same trade starts with a Background Check, First Aid / CPR and General Liability Insurance. Every one of them carries an expiry date, and the register tracks each crew member against it.

The CrewOS Compliance screen: 12 crew members and 48 documents tracked, with expired, expiring soon, pending and current counts and per-person days to next expiry.
The compliance register tracks every crew member's documents against expiry, so the certification clock is visible before it becomes a scheduling problem.

Checklists work the same way. A template arrives with forms shaped for the trade, and the editor lets an operator change them field by field, set which items are required, and scope a form to specific services or specific sites.

The CrewOS checklist editor showing a Post-Clean Checklist with per-item field types and required flags, scoped to the Commercial Cleaning / Janitorial service.
A Post-Clean Checklist edited field by field: each item gets a type, a required flag, and a scope. The same editor builds an inspection report for a crane company or a treatment record for a pest control company.

Fewer Systems. Better Visibility.

The hidden cost of disconnected software is not limited to subscription fees.

It appears in duplicated data entry, missed follow-ups, expired documents, scheduling mistakes, slow invoicing and the hours managers spend searching for information.

When scheduling, compliance, sales, customer management and financial activity live in one connected environment, leaders gain a clearer view of the entire operation.

They can see what needs attention, identify bottlenecks earlier and make decisions using current information rather than piecing together yesterday's spreadsheets.

The objective is straightforward: help field service businesses operate with greater control, consistency and confidence.
